It has that sort of South Park no holds barred thing going on where no one and no issue is off limits for humor. So if you're a sensitive person, I definitely don't recommend It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia but as I consider myself pretty open-minded with the things I'm willing to laugh about (as long as the jokes are funny and not just offensive for the sake of being offensive), ...

- Chicago's WCIU-Ch. 26 will air a tribute to Bernie Mac, complete with episodes of "The Bernie Mac Show" on Saturday, starting at 5 p.m. The complete press release on the station's 4-hour tribute to the comedian and actor, who hailed from Chicago, is at the end of this item.
- When the Emmys roll around on Sept. 21, I'll have my fingers crossed for one performer in particular. In a show filled with jaw-dropping performances, Glynn Turman, who guest starred in one episode of HBO's "In Treatment," was simply breathtaking. We'd heard about his character, the father of fighter pilot Alex, all season long, and when the father finally showed up, Turman took the excellent script he was given and simply knocked it out of the park. Needless to say, I was happy to see him included on the 2008 list of Emmy nominees. Turman notes in this interview with Awards Heaven that "In Treatment" cast member Blair Underwood (as well as HBO) helped in the campaign to get Turman a nomination.
- Tom and Lorenzo, the peerless proprietors of Project Rungay, have fallen hard for "Mad Men" and posted an ode to the show on their non-"Project Runway" blog.
- Via TVTattle -- the New York Post reports that the real NBC pages have gotten a new uniform. Will Kenneth the page follow suit? I hope not. Kenneth is not Kenneth without that navy NBC blazer.
- My colleague Julia Keller wrote an essay on all the truth-fudging regarding the Opening Ceremony (which I thought was pretty enthralling, but I'm sorry that adorable little girl didn't get to sing the song at the ceremony. Also, in my opinion, NBC's commentators should have said outright that some of the fireworks during the ceremony's opening minutes were fake instead of making vague allusion to the visual trickery.).
- On another note, NBC says it can't remove the words "live" from the West Coast Olympics broadcasts? Oh, come on. As the Times' Richard Sandomir said, "Hmm, we can land a spacecraft on Mars, but we can't strip off a misleading graphic from videotape."
- "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" comes back to FX Sept. 18, and in anticipation of that, the gang has posted a new video, "Going Back to Philly":
- Also via TVTattle, here's a GQ interview with Aaron Sorkin in which he may have made a few mistakes with "Studio 60." You think? Sheesh.
- A horrifying development for "Bevery Hills 90210" fans: Tori Spelling has decided not to appear on the show due to a salary dispute. As Alan Sepinwall wrote, "it's schadenfreuderrific to see how Tori gets treated by a '90210' where her dad isn't in charge."
- Really? CBS is remaking "Hawaii 5-0"? Is that because its remake of "Viva Laughlin" went so well? Then again, NBC's "Knight Rider" has shown that, even when it comes to remakes, great art is possible.
- The networks are providing short recaps of the previous seasons of their shows before the new season gets underway. Check out the video player on the right to sample the recaps of "Pushing Daisies," "Gossip Girl" and more.
- Speaking of FX shows, I'll have a lot of interviews with the cast and creator of "The Shield" before its Sept. 2 return. Before then, in anticipation of the show's final season, the network has posted a ton of video clips of the cast interviewing each other and there's also a cast roundtable moderated by Elvis Mitchell. There's some good stuff in those clips, but my favorite moment has to be Kenny Johnson asking Walton Goggins the tough question: Why are Goggins' teeth so big?

- Rich Sommer, who plays Harry Crane on Mad Men,' is interviewed here by TV Squad. He'll also guest on the season premiere of The Office,' according to Watch With Kristen and EW.
- Speaking of AMC, the network has commissioned another pilot, this time the show is an unnamed spy thriller.
- Wendell Pierce and Clarke Peters, who played Bunk Moreland and Lester Freamon on The Wire,' will be working with Wire' creator David Simon again on his new series, Treme,' which is set among musicians in New Orleans. Link via TVTattle.
- Alan Sepinwall of the Star-Ledger and Dan Fienberg of Zap2it.com (I think they should star in a buddy comedy called Sep and Fien,' by the way) cornered David Shore, the creator of House,' at a Fox party and got him to blab about the new season of the Hugh Laurie show.
- Fans who couldn't get enough of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog' are posting their tributes to the Joss Whedon endeavor at www.wonderflonium.com. Do not bounce!
- FanGrrl Magnet noticed that the season finale of Showtime's Secret Diary of a Call Girl' announced that the show would be back for another season. FanGrrl Magnet is a new site (from one of the editors of Galactica Sitrep), but I've already found it to be an essential daily stop on my Web wanderings. There's tons of great video (including the "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" panel amongst a lot of other Comic-Con coverage) and an update on one of Ron Moore's new projects, "Virtuality" (yes, kids, the new show has an airlock! Score!)
- The Hollywood Reporter says that Laurence Fishburne is in talks to join CSI' in the new lead role that CSI' executive producer Naren Shankar outlined in this recent interview.
- Heather Havrilesky of Salon's excellent I Like to Watch' column posted some spot-on thoughts about Burn Notice' and The Closer' here. She also writes about In Plain Sight,' which I can't abide but she has some affection for.
- Oh, the irony. From the Barn to the bling: Kristin Dos Santos from E!Online's Watch With Kristin reports that the sets from The Shield,' which wrapped production months ago, are going to be replaced by the sets of a McDreamy McMansion. Sigh.
- By the way, the Watch With Kristin team from E! has a nutty amount of videos from Comic-Con, both from panels and in the backstage press rooms. Those ladies work hard for the money. Check it all out here.
- There's quite a bit of footage from the Comic-Con showrunners panel (which I unfortunately missed) here. The panel featured, among others, Team Darlton from "Lost" and also Josh Schwartz from "Chuck" and "Gossip Girl."
- A 26-minute July 28 Charlie Rose interview with Jon Hamm, Matthew Weiner and Jon Slattery from Mad Men' is online here.
